Stella Oakley. Small sculpture object, oak hardwood, stainless steel, acrylic, 10 x 19 x 14cm high. The piece is bemused and alarmed by the hyper sexualization of… cars. Once they could be sleekly female and called ‘she’; right now they’re mostly ugly snarly beasts. But we may be headed for a more quiescent electrical future where the look of transportation has no implied gender nor aggressive agenda. Maybe. Meanwhile, poor Stella swaps wheels for an arrangement of immoveable legs and wears a puzzled look that reflects her uncertain future.
